Lee soon found that the jack he had plugged his headset into caused a short delay in sound transmission from the microphone and the tape he was using to record to the headset he was using to listen to his voice.
It has been proposed that speaking with a metronome is a distrac tion that decreases the anticipatory anxiety associated with stutter ing, and hence the anxiety-fueled exacerbations of stuttering.
