From the parking area at the trailhead, it’s only a five-minute walk to reach a meadow surrounded by a thicket of wild blackberries, alders, and redwoods, with the ocean looming huge to the west, but there is no trail to the beach from here. The parking area, by the way, is an excellent perch to watch for the “puff-of-smoke” spouts from passing whales.
