They do not do things in a great, well-established church in New York City as they did in the church from the man’s youth, some forty-five years ago in Maine. Whatever you do, don’t stop growing. Examine your emotions, examine your ideas, and if they have begun to crust over smash them by a spiritual renewal. I know that because it is my privilege and function as it is of all clergymen to deal in human problems week after week, year after year. God is faithful, He will not allow you to be – 39 – NAVIGATE tempted more than you are able to stand, and along with the temptation, He provides a way out and encourages you to conquer it.
