The political project of the campaign is directed towards defending Cuba’s right to national sovereignty, independence, and self-determination, without outside interference. After 50 years of blockade, the Cuba Solidarity Campaign calls for the end of the blockade and for the normalization of diplomatic, economic, and cultural relations with the island.

During the years that followed the end of the dictatorship, the environmental movement arose thanks to the influence The Ethnography of Digital Activism 29 of different political cultures and tensions. This is particularly true when we think about the context of social movements because, as scholars have shown, activists and activist groups develop self-reflexive perceptions of the “things” they do with and expect from the media at large (Atton, 2002; Downing, 2000; Mattoni, 2012).
