36 Alan L Tyree Chapter 7 Bibliographic references LYX uses the BibTEX system of storing bibliographic references. BibTEX allows you to store all your bibliographic references in a single database which is then referenced by a “key”. If you have never used BibTEX or a similar system for storing references, then you are simply working too hard. BibTEX allows you to enter a reference once only and, almost as important, to cite it consistently throughout your work. BibTEX can produce a number of different style bibliographies.
